أحببت صحرائي وإن هي اجدبت

إذ     أنبتت     حرية     وصعابا

I loved my desert, even if it grew barren,

For it brought forth freedom and hardships.

For it grew freedom and difficulties.

ولك  هويت  من  الجبال  سموّها

ولك هويت من الجبال سموّها

لو  لم  تقف  دون  الفضاء  حجابا

لو لم تقف دون الفضاء حجابا

And for you I would have loved the mountains' loftiness,

And I loved the loftiness of mountains,

Had they not stood as a veil before the open sky.

If they did not stand as barriers before the sky.
