so accept them as ready payment, and be generous with a promise.
وَنَثَرْنَاand we scattered دُمُوعَنَاour tears فَانْظِمِيهَاso string them together

And we have scattered our tears, so string them together:
for they are more radiant than all the pearls of a necklace.

جَنَّةٌa paradise حُسْنُهُاits beauty كَحُسْنِlike the beauty of وِصَالٍunion
فِيهِin it مِنْfrom خَالِهَاher beauty mark بَقِيَّةُa remnant of صَدِّrejection
A paradise whose beauty is like the beauty of union,
in which a trace of rejection remains from her beauty mark.
قَدْindeed تَعَدَّتْshe has transgressed عَلىagainst النُّفُوسِsouls وَلَكِنْand yet

her lovers do not call it transgression.

We have seen none turn an eyelid into a sword
that puts India to shame, save the eyelids of Hind.

Her polished cheek said to me, having become
a mirror: "What do you see?" I said, "My cheek."
