عَلَيْكَfor you حَمَامَاتُdoves الأَرَاكِthe arak trees تَنُوحُlament
وَبِاسْمِكَand in your name أَنْفَاسُbreaths العَبِيرِperfume تَفُوحَwaft
For you the doves of the arak trees lament,
And in your name the breaths of perfume waft.
فَهَلْso, have...? حُدِّثَتْbeen told عَنْكَabout you الرِّيَاضُthe gardens فإِنَّنِيfor indeed I

Have the gardens, then, been told of you? For I
see gladness gleaming in the face of the gardens.

My tears reveal the secret of my passion, as though they
were commentaries on the text of love's tales.
وَلَوْلاَكَand but for you ماnot هَبَّblew النَّسِيمُthe breeze مُعَطَّراًperfumed

And but for you, the breeze would not have blown perfumed,
nor would the scent of musk have begun to waft from it.
