ماكانَhow he would have been أصدقهُtruthful (he) لوif أنّهthat he زاراhe visited !!!
This one who claims knowledge of love—
He who claims to know love
How truthful he would have been, had he visited!
Would not have been so truthful, had he visited!
لمdid not يدرِhe know ماذرفتْwhat it shed عينِيmy eye لِغيبتهbecause of his absence
لوif كانhe were ذاpossessed of كلفٍpassionate love ..مثليlike me .. لماthen he would not جاراhave acted unjustly
He did not know what tears my eye shed over his absence.
He did not know what my eyes shed in his absence
Had he been as lovesick as I am, he would not have been unjust.
Had he been so inclined...like me...he would not have fled

At every opportunity, I send him my rhyme.
In every circumstance I rhyme my verses for him
With longing, it confides in him, openly and in secret.
Sincerely confessing to him...openly and in secret

And he does not know the sorrow within my breast,
Yet he does not know the sorrow in my heart
From what I endure—abandonment and denial.
From his estrangement and denial that I endure

By God, O hope whose dwelling is in the soul,
For God's sake, my hope...his dwelling in the soul
Visit me—I am your ransom; enough of turning away!
Visit me, your ransom is me...it is enough to turn away
