إني تتبّعتُ أدواءَ القلوبِ فلم

No greater burden on them than their separation

الشوقُ مهلكةُ الأرواح في صلةٍ

الشوقُ مهلكةُ الأرواح في صلةٍ

فكيف إن عزّ في الدنيا تلاقيها

فكيف إن عزّ في الدنيا تلاقيها

Longing is the ruin of souls even in union;

Yearning is ruinous to souls in communion

so how, if their meeting in this world is hard to attain?

So how when the rare in life encounter each other
