  1. أستغفر الله من عشقٍ برى جسدي

    أشقى الفؤاد وأعيا بالأسى كبدي

    I ask God's forgiveness for a love that wore my body away.

    It made my heart wretched and exhausted my liver with sorrow.

  2. هذي ذنوبي من الأشواق أحصدها

    وذا جزائي وعقبى ما جنته يدي !

    These are my sins; I reap them from longing.

    And this is my recompense, and the outcome of what my hand has wrought!
