  1. أنا الأبكيت صم الصخردمعاً

    ‏وما التفتَ الذي أجرى دموعي

    I am the one who made unyielding rock weep tears,

    Yet the one who made my tears flow paid no heed.

  2. ‏عجبت لميتٍ يحنو .. وحيٍّ

    ‏له قلبٌ تحجّر في الضلوع

    I marveled at a lifeless thing showing tenderness, and a living one

    Whose heart has turned to stone within his ribs.
