Grant me clusters of passion, so I may love.
Grant me bunches of passion so I may love,
I need a vineyard, so I may grow tender and drown,
I need generosity so I may rise and drown,

Cities of longing, a true dream,
Cities of longing, a true dream,
Tears that shimmer when absence lingers.
A tear if absence becomes long, dripping.

من صخرة الروح العصيّة زنبقا
I need rain so that my femininity may emerge
I need rain so my femininity may blossom
From the soul’s unyielding rock as a lily.
From the stubborn rock of the soul, an anemone.

حتى أكون بختم قلبكَ أليقا
A flock of kisses pregnant with radiance,
A flock of kisses, pregnant with bliss,
So I may be more worthy of your heart’s seal.
So I can be most fitting to your heart's seal.

صدراً إذا غمز الصباح تأنّقا
Two palms skilled in lulling the evening,
Two palms that master the murmur of touch,
A chest that grows elegant when morning winks,
A breast if dawn winks, becomes elegant.

Two shoulders that construct safety into poems,
Two lips truer than all poems.
Two lips of all poems most honest.

A soul that, when beauty is mentioned, I take to be
A spirit that if beauty is mentioned, it's deemed
An orchid blossoming from beauty’s very essence.
An orchid of that same beauty, prolific.

Be everyone on earth; be earth, and be
Be everything on earth, be earth and be
A river flowing with the wine that quenches our thirst.
A river of our wine overflowing.

And be the sky when you enfold my ribs;
And be the sky, if you gather my wings,
Your hands were created mighty so that I might soar.
Your hands are grand so I may soar.

And a mischief-maker, his eyes a spring of innocence,
And quarrelsome...his eyes a spring of innocence
And an adventurer who rises for me wherever I rise.
And adventurous, however high I climbed, so he may climb.

I do not want you as a warrior in my love;
I do not want you in my love a warrior,
Our greatest dreams want you as a legion.
Our greatest dreams want you a brigade.

Indeed, I have waited for you for a thousand battles.
I've been waiting for you since a thousand laments,
When, then, will you raid the heart so it may be freed?
So when will you raid the heart to free it?
