ماذاwhat أَقولI say وand أيَّwhich شيءٍthing أكْتُبُI write
ماذا أَقول و أيَّ شيءٍ أكْتُبُ
السَّاحُthe arena تَنْأىrecedes والمَنازلُand the dwellings تَغْربُvanish
السَّاحُ تَنْأى والمَنازلُ تَغْربُ
What shall I say, and what shall I write?
What should I say, and what can I write?
The arena recedes, and the dwellings fade away.
The fields are abandoned, the houses deserted.
لَهْفيmy grief علىfor تلكthat الدِّماءِblood تَدَفَّقَتْpoured forth
لَهْفي على تلك الدِّماءِ تَدَفَّقَتْ
والنَّاسُand the people فيin لَهْوٍdiversion يَضجُّroars وand يصْخَبُclamors
والنَّاسُ في لَهْوٍ يَضجُّ و يصْخَبُ
Oh, my grief for that blood that poured forth!
My longing for that spilled blood
And people revel in roaring, clamorous diversion.
While people revel, noisy and raucous.
الرّاقِصونthose dancing علىon الدِّماءِthe blood علىon الأنيـthe groaning (start)
الرّاقِصون على الدِّماءِ على الأنيـ
ـنgroaning (end)، علىon الجَماجِمthe skulls ! والغِناءُand the singing الأعْجَبُthe strangest
ـن، على الجَماجِم ! والغِناءُ الأعْجَبُ
Those dancing on blood, on groan-
Dancers on the blood, on the eyes,
-ing, on skulls! And the strangest singing!
On the skulls! And the most wondrous singing!
الغيدُgraceful beauties تَلْهوtoy بالقُلوبwith hearts وand حَوْلَهاaround them
الغيدُ تَلْهو بالقُلوب و حَوْلَها
سَكْرَىdrunken ones! وأَنغَامُand melodies الضّياعِof loss تَسَرَّبُseep through
سَكْرَى! وأَنغَامُ الضّياعِ تَسَرَّبُ
The graceful beauties toy with hearts, and around them
Flutes entice hearts as intoxication whirls around them!
are drunkards! And melodies of loss seep through.
And the melodies of loss seep through.
للهto God درexcellence (in praise) ُّ فتىًa youth يُفجِّرُblows up نَفْسَهُhimself
لله در ُّ فتىً يُفجِّرُ نَفْسَهُ
ويْحيwoe to me ! وأُمّتُهُand his nation غُفَاةٌasleep غُيَّبُabsent
ويْحي ! وأُمّتُهُ غُفَاةٌ غُيَّبُ
God bless the youth who blows himself up!
God bless the youth who detonates himself!
Woe is me! His nation is asleep and absent.
Reviving! While his nation slumbers, absent.
فكأنّماso as though مُلِئَتْwas filled جَوانبُهُhis inner being أسىًsorrow
فكأنّما مُلِئَتْ جَوانبُهُ أسىً
غَضَباًanger ! ولمand did not يَرَsee حَوْلَهُaround him مَنْanyone who يَغْضَبُgrows angry
غَضَباً ! ولم يَرَ حَوْلَهُ مَنْ يَغْضَبُ
It was as though his inner being had filled with sorrow,
So it's as if his sides fill with sorrow,
with anger! Yet he saw no one around him grow angry.
Anger! And around him none rage.
وفؤادُهand his heart لَهَبُflame العزيمةof determination وَقْدُهits burning
وفؤادُه لَهَبُ العزيمة وَقْدُه
عَزْمٌresolve وإِيثارٌand selflessness وحقٌّand truth أَغْلَبُprevailing
عَزْمٌ وإِيثارٌ وحقٌّ أَغْلَبُ
And his heart is determination's flame; its burning
His conscience aflame with determination, its wick
is resolve, selflessness, and prevailing truth.
Resolve and sacrifice and truth most victorious.
وعلىand on مُحَيَّاهُhis face البشائرُglad tidings أَشْرَقتْshone
وعلى مُحَيَّاهُ البشائرُ أَشْرَقتْ
أَملاًhope يُضيءshines ولَهْفَةًand yearning تترقَّبُwaits expectantly
أَملاً يُضيء ولَهْفَةً تترقَّبُ
And on his face glad tidings shone,
On his forehead tidings shine
as shining hope and yearning that waits expectantly.
Hope lights up and anticipation keeps watch.
وتلفَّتتْand looked around عَيْناهhis two eyes! حِينwhen بَدَاappeared لَهُto him
وتلفَّتتْ عَيْناه! حِين بَدَا لَهُ
زَحْفٌan advance ونِيرانٌand fire تُصَبّis poured وand تُسْكَبُis spilled
زَحْفٌ ونِيرانٌ تُصَبّ و تُسْكَبُ
His eyes looked around when there appeared to him
And his eyes shifted! When there loomed before him
an advancing force, and fire poured down and spilled.
An onslaught, fires pouring and spilling over,
ومدافعٌand guns وقنابلٌand bombs والطائراand the aircraft (start)
ومدافعٌ وقنابلٌ والطائرا
تُaircraft (end) تحومُcircle تُلْقيcast down بالجحيمِhellfire وتضْرِبُand strike
تُ تحومُ تُلْقي بالجحيمِ وتضْرِبُ
And guns and bombs, and air-
Cannons and bombs, and planes circling,
-craft circle, raining hellfire and striking.
Raining hell, striking.
ويحيwoe to me! ودّباباتُهand his tanks انْطَلقَتْcharged forth علىupon
ويحي! ودّباباتُه انْطَلقَتْ على
قَصْفٍbombardment أَشَدَّfiercer، لَهِيْبُهُits blaze لاnot يُحْجَبُis concealed
قَصْفٍ أَشَدَّ، لَهِيْبُهُ لا يُحْجَبُ
Woe is me! His tanks charged amid
And lo! His tanks charged forth
fiercer bombardment, its blaze impossible to hide.
Pounding harder, its horror unobscured.
فمنازلٌso dwellings تَهْويcollapse عَلىupon أصْحابِهاtheir occupants
فمنازلٌ تَهْوي عَلى أصْحابِها
ومصانِعٌand factories تُطْوىare swept away وأَهْلٌand families نُحَّبُmourners
ومصانِعٌ تُطْوى وأَهْلٌ نُحَّبُ
So dwellings collapse upon their occupants,
Houses collapse on their dwellers
and factories are swept away, and families mourn.
Factories fold, people piled up.
ودَمٌand blood تفجَّرَburst forth فيin المَرابِعِthe homesteads كُلِّهاall of them
ودَمٌ تفجَّرَ في المَرابِعِ كُلِّها
دَوّىresounded هُناكthere ! فَمنْso who يُجِيبُanswers ويُعْرِبُand speaks out ؟
دَوّى هُناك ! فَمنْ يُجِيبُ ويُعْرِبُ ؟
And blood burst forth throughout all the homesteads,
Blood burst forth in all the squares
resounding there! Who will answer and speak out?
Raging there! So who answers, who explains?
وَدمُand the blood الطّفولةِof childhood يسْتَغيثُcries for help ! وأنَّةُand the moan
وَدمُ الطّفولةِ يسْتَغيثُ ! وأنَّةُ
الثكْلىthe bereaved mother تُناديcalls out! والدّموعُand the tears تَشَعَّبُbranch out
الثكْلى تُنادي! والدّموعُ تَشَعَّبُ
And childhood's blood cries for help! And the moan of
The blood of childhood cries out! And the wail
the bereaved mother calls out! Tears branch into streams.
Of the bereaved calls! And tears flow.
وتلفّتتْand looked around عَيْناهhis two eyes ! هلis there? مِنْany مُشْفِقٍcompassionate person
وتلفّتتْ عَيْناه ! هل مِنْ مُشْفِقٍ
فيon الأَرْضthe earth يَحْنوُshows tenderness ؟ أوor يَلينsoftens فيحدُبُso shows care
في الأَرْض يَحْنوُ ؟ أو يَلين فيحدُبُ
His eyes looked around! Is there anyone compassionate
And his eyes shifted! Is there one who has mercy
on earth who shows tenderness, or softens and cares?
On earth who melts? Or is tender, bending?
فالناسso people والدّنْياand the world كأنّas though بِهمْin them عَمىًblindness
فالناس والدّنْيا كأنّ بِهمْ عَمىً
وقلوبُهُمْand their hearts شتَّىdivergent المسَالكِpaths تذْهَبُgo
وقلوبُهُمْ شتَّى المسَالكِ تذْهَبُ
People and the world seem afflicted with blindness,
So people and the world are as though blind to them
and their hearts go along divergent paths.
And their hearts on diverse paths wander.
أَوor أنّهمthat they are صُمٌّdeaf وبُكْمٌand mute ويْحَهُمْwoe to them
أَو أنّهم صُمٌّ وبُكْمٌ ويْحَهُمْ
لاneither مَشْرِقٌEast يُصْغيlistens لهمْto them أوor مَغرِبُWest
لا مَشْرِقٌ يُصْغي لهمْ أو مَغرِبُ
Or they are deaf and mute—woe to them!
Or they are deaf, mute, fooling themselves,
Neither East listens to them, nor West.
No sunrise alerts them, nor sunset.
وتلفَّتتْand looked around عيناهُhis two eyes تنطقُspeak بالأسىwith sorrow
وتلفَّتتْ عيناهُ تنطقُ بالأسى
تقولsaying ياO دنياworld أطلّواlook forth وارقُبواand watch
تقول يا دنيا أطلّوا وارقُبوا
His eyes looked around, speaking with sorrow,
And his eyes turned, speaking with sorrow
saying: O world, look forth and watch!
Saying: O world, be alert and watch!
أينwhere النِّظامُthe order العَالميّworldwide ؟ ! وأيْنand where كُـall (start)
أين النِّظامُ العَالميّ ؟ ! وأيْن كُـ
ـلُّall (end) لجانِهِits committees ؟ أيْنَwhere المُنىhopes والمطْلبُand the goal
ـلُّ لجانِهِ ؟ أيْنَ المُنى والمطْلبُ
Where is the world order? And where are al-
Where is the world order? And where is
-l its committees? Where are hopes and the goal?
Each of its committees? Where are wishes and goals?
أينwhere الشّعاراتُthe slogans التيthat غَنَّواthey sang بِهاabout them
أين الشّعاراتُ التي غَنَّوا بِها
زَمَناًfor a time فَغَابthen vanished غِناؤهمtheir singing والمُطْرِبُand the singer
زَمَناً فَغَاب غِناؤهم والمُطْرِبُ
Where are the slogans they sang
Where are the slogans they once sang,
for a time? Their singing and the singer vanished.
Then their singing faded, and the singer?
أيْنَwhere الأُخُوّةُbrotherhood والعَدالةُand justice والمُسَاand equality (start)
أيْنَ الأُخُوّةُ والعَدالةُ والمُسَا
واةequality (end) التيwhich تُطْوىis cast aside هُنَاكَthere وتَكْذِبُand proves false
واة التي تُطْوى هُنَاكَ وتَكْذِبُ
Where are brotherhood and justice, and equa-
Where is brotherhood, justice, and equality
-lity, cast aside there and proving false?
That there are folded, and lie?
وتلفّتتand looked around عيناهُhis two eyes واْلتَفَتَand turned الفؤاthe heart (start)
وتلفّتت عيناهُ واْلتَفَتَ الفؤا
دُheart (end) : فأيْنso where أهْليmy kin وand الهَوَىlove والمأربُand aspiration ؟!
دُ : فأيْن أهْلي و الهَوَى والمأربُ ؟!
His eyes looked around, and his hea-
And his eyes turned, and his conscience turned:
-rt turned: where are my kin, love, and aspiration?
Where are my people, passions and home?!
أيْنَwhere العُروبةُArab identity والسّلامُand peace وand أيْنَwhere أرْkinship ties (start)
أيْنَ العُروبةُ والسّلامُ و أيْنَ أرْ
حامٌkinship ties (end) تَقَطَّعُare severed والوِدادُand affection الأَقْرَبُthe closest ؟!
حامٌ تَقَطَّعُ والوِدادُ الأَقْرَبُ ؟!
Where are Arab identity and peace, and where are ties of kin-
Where is Arabism, peace, and where are the intimate
-ship, severed, and the closest affection?
Ties that are torn, and closest affection?!
أيْنَwhere الشِعاراتthe slogans التيthat دوّىresounded بهاwith them
أيْنَ الشِعارات التي دوّى بها
حَشْدٌa crowd وأينand where سَبيلُهاtheir path والمذْهَبُand the course ؟!
حَشْدٌ وأين سَبيلُها والمذْهَبُ ؟!
Where are the slogans thundered by
Where are the slogans roared by the throngs
a crowd? And where are their path and course?
And where are their paths and ways?
والمسْلمونand the Muslims ! وأَيْنَand where هُمْthey ؟! أيْنَwhere الوعُوthe promises (start)
والمسْلمون ! وأَيْنَ هُمْ ؟! أيْنَ الوعُو
دُpromises (end) ؟! وكَمْand how often تُبَدَّلare changed، ويْحَهمwoe to them، وتُقَلَّبُand overturned
دُ ؟! وكَمْ تُبَدَّل، ويْحَهم، وتُقَلَّبُ
And the Muslims—where are they? Where are the promi-
And the Muslims! Where are they?! Where are the promises?!
-ses? How often they are changed—woe to them—and overturned!
How much they have changed, how they have turned!
نَادَوْاthey called شُعُوبَthe peoples الأرضof the earth! قَادتَهاits leaders! اسْتَغاsought help (start)
نَادَوْا شُعُوبَ الأرض! قَادتَها! اسْتَغا
ثُواsought help (end) بالعدُوِّfrom the foe وبالصّديقِand from the friend وأوْعَبُواand exhausted every means
ثُوا بالعدُوِّ وبالصّديقِ وأوْعَبُوا
They called to the earth's peoples, its leaders; they sought he-
They called on the world's peoples, leaders! Cried out
-lp from foe and friend, and exhausted every means.
To foe and friend and complained!
وتَوسَّلواand they pleaded! وتَضرَّعواand they implored! وand تَذلَّلواthey humbled themselves!
وتَوسَّلوا! وتَضرَّعوا! و تَذلَّلوا!
منwho ذاis it that يُجيبُanswers نِداءَهُمْtheir call أوor يَصْحَبaccompanies ؟!
من ذا يُجيبُ نِداءَهُمْ أو يَصْحَب ؟!
They pleaded, implored, and humbled themselves!
And pleaded! And begged! And groveled!
Who answers their call or stands by them?
Who will answer their call, or keep them company?
قالواthey said قَلِقْناwe are concerned! أوقفواstop الإرهابterrorism! ويْـwoe (start)
قالوا قَلِقْنا! أوقفوا الإرهاب! ويْـ
لكُمُto you ! فمنso who ذاكthat one الذيwho هُوhe يُرْهِبُterrorizes ؟!
لكُمُ ! فمن ذاك الذي هُو يُرْهِبُ ؟!
They said: We are concerned! Stop terrorism! Wo-
They said: We are anxious! Stop the terrorism! Woe to you!
-e to you! Then who is the one spreading terror?
So who is it that terrorizes?!
مَنْwho قَتَّلslaughtered الأَطْفَالَthe children ؟! مَنْwho قَدْhas أشعلkindled الـthe
مَنْ قَتَّل الأَطْفَالَ ؟! مَنْ قَدْ أشعل الـ
نَّيرانfires؟! مَنْwho يَطْغَىtyrannizes هناكَthere ويُلْهِبُand sets ablaze ؟!
نَّيران؟! مَنْ يَطْغَى هناكَ ويُلْهِبُ ؟!
Who slaughtered the children? Who has kindled the
Who killed the children?! Who ignited
fires? Who tyrannizes there and sets things ablaze?
The fires?! Who rages there and inflames?!
قالواthey said : سنبعَثُwe shall send بالوسيطthe mediator لكيso as to يُعاaddress (start)
قالوا : سنبعَثُ بالوسيط لكي يُعا
لِجَaddress (end) ماwhat يَرىhe sees منof مُشْكِلٍa problem وand يُقَرِّبُbrings closer
لِجَ ما يَرى من مُشْكِلٍ و يُقَرِّبُ
They said: We shall send a mediator to ad-
They said: We will send an envoy to address
-dress the problems he sees and bring the sides closer.
What problems he sees, and draw near.
كمْhow many منof وسيطٍa mediator ياO فلَسْطِينُPalestine ارْتَدىdonned
كمْ من وسيطٍ يا فلَسْطِينُ ارْتَدى
ثوبَthe robe السّلامof peace يَنالُtakes مِنْكِfrom you ويَنْهَبُand plunders
ثوبَ السّلام يَنالُ مِنْكِ ويَنْهَبُ
How many mediators, O Palestine, have donned
How many envoys, O Palestine, have worn
the robe of peace, taking from you and plundering.
The garb of peace, only to plunder and loot you!
المجْرِمونَthe criminals عِصَابَةٌa gang جَمَعَتْهُمُunited them
المجْرِمونَ عِصَابَةٌ جَمَعَتْهُمُ
فِتَنُtemptations الهَوىof desire صفّاًin a rank يَشُدُّholds firm ويدأَبُand perseveres
فِتَنُ الهَوى صفّاً يَشُدُّ ويدأَبُ
The criminals are a gang, brought together by
The criminals are a gang bound
desire's temptations, a rank that holds firm and perseveres.
By the passions of desire, lined up and toiling.
وتَلفَّتَتْand looked around عَيْناهُhis two eyes : أيْنَwhere مُفاوِضٌa negotiator
وتَلفَّتَتْ عَيْناهُ : أيْنَ مُفاوِضٌ
يَسْعىstrives ؟ ! وأيْنَand where الفارسthe knight المتَوَثِّبُpoised to spring
يَسْعى ؟ ! وأيْنَ الفارس المتَوَثِّبُ
His eyes looked around: where is a negotiator
And his eyes turned! Where is a negotiator
who strives? And where is the knight poised to spring?
Who might toil? And where is the knight who vaults?
كمhow many قَاعةٍa hall قَدindeed زُيِّنتْwas adorned لمفَاوُضٍfor a negotiator
كم قَاعةٍ قَد زُيِّنتْ لمفَاوُضٍ
لاهٍheedless يُمَثّلُacts a part أوor يُراوغُdodges ثَعْلَبُa fox
لاهٍ يُمَثّلُ أو يُراوغُ ثَعْلَبُ
How many halls have been adorned for a negotiator
How many halls embellished for an errant
heedless, playacting—or a dodging fox!
Negotiator who acts or deceives like a fox!
وتَدورُand circles فيهاwithin it الشاةُthe sheep تَثغوbleats، دونَهاbefore it
وتَدورُ فيها الشاةُ تَثغو، دونَها
نابٌa fang يُقَطَِّعtears apart أوor يُمزِّقُrends مخْلبُa claw
نابٌ يُقَطَِّع أو يُمزِّقُ مخْلبُ
And within them a sheep circles, bleating; before it
And the sheep mill about within, under it
a fang tears apart, or a claw rends.
Fangs that shred and tear with each swipe!
وتلفّتَتْand looked around عَيْناهُhis two eyes! ويْحيwoe to me لمnot يَعُدْremains
وتلفّتَتْ عَيْناهُ! ويْحي لم يَعُدْ
فيin السّاحِthe arena مِنْany حَجَرٍstone يَطيرُflies ويُرْعِبُand frightens
في السّاحِ مِنْ حَجَرٍ يَطيرُ ويُرْعِبُ
His eyes looked around! Woe is me, no longer is there
And his eyes shifted! No stone remains
in the arena any stone that flies and frightens.
In the field that can be thrown to frighten.
وتَلفّتَتْand looked around عيْناهُhis two eyes ! ويْحيَwoe to me لمnot يَعُدْremains
وتَلفّتَتْ عيْناهُ ! ويْحيَ لم يَعُدْ
حَشْدُa mass السلاحof weapons يَصُدُّrepels أوor يتصَبَّبُpours forth
حَشْدُ السلاح يَصُدُّ أو يتصَبَّبُ
His eyes looked around! Woe is me, no longer is there
And his eyes shifted! No throng of weapons
a mass of weapons to repel or pour forth.
Can deter or seep through.
وتلفّتَتْand looked around عَيْناهُhis two eyes ! والأَقْصىand al-Aqsa يَئـgroans (start)
وتلفّتَتْ عَيْناهُ ! والأَقْصى يَئـ
ـنُّgroans (end) وقَيْدُهand its fetter قاسٍharsh عليهupon it مُجَرّبُwell tested
ـنُّ وقَيْدُه قاسٍ عليه مُجَرّبُ
His eyes looked around! And al-Aqsa gro-
And his eyes turned! And the Aqsa moans,
-ans, its fetter harsh upon it and well tested.
Its bond so harsh, tested on it.
وتلفّتَتْand looked around عَيْناهُhis two eyes! وامْتلأَتْand filled جواinner being (start)
وتلفّتَتْ عَيْناهُ! وامْتلأَتْ جوا
نِبُهhis inner being (end) أسىًsorrow ينْموgrows لديْهwithin him وand يَغلِبُprevails
نِبُه أسىً ينْمو لديْه و يَغلِبُ
His eyes looked around! And his inner be-
And his eyes shifted! And his sides brimmed
-ing filled with sorrow that grows within him and prevails.
With sorrow growing within him, prevailing.
وإذاand then الهوانhumiliation يلفُّenvelops أُمَّتَهُhis nation وهَلْand can
وإذا الهوان يلفُّ أُمَّتَهُ وهَلْ
يَبْقَىremain الأَبيُّthe proud علىin الهوانhumiliation ويَرْغَبُand desires
يَبْقَى الأَبيُّ على الهوان ويَرْغَبُ
Then humiliation envelops his nation; and can
When disgrace wraps his nation, can
the proud remain in humiliation and desire it?
The steadfast desire disgrace and accept it?
فإذاthen suddenly بهthere he is متواثِبٌspringing forward ! أحناؤهhis inward parts
فإذا به متواثِبٌ ! أحناؤه
غَضَبٌanger يَفُُورُseethes معamid الضُّلوعthe ribs ويُلْهبُand blazes
غَضَبٌ يَفُُورُ مع الضُّلوع ويُلْهبُ
Then behold him springing forward! Within him
There he is, leaping forth! His depths
anger seethes amid his ribs and blazes.
Ablaze with anger coursing his ribs, kindling.
وخُطاهand his footsteps تَسْتَبِقُrace الرّدىdeath! حتّىuntil إذاwhen
وخُطاه تَسْتَبِقُ الرّدى! حتّى إذا
بلغَhe reached الميادينthe battlefields التيthat تتقلّبُare in turmoil
بلغَ الميادين التي تتقلّبُ
His footsteps race death, until, when
His steps outstrip calamity! Until when
he reached the battlefields in turmoil,
He reaches the fields that churn,
فَتَفَجّرتْthen exploded أحْناؤهhis inward parts وتطايرتand flew apart
فَتَفَجّرتْ أحْناؤه وتطايرت
أشْلاؤهhis torn limbs والأُفْقُand the horizon مِنْهُfrom him مُخَضّبُbloodstained
أشْلاؤه والأُفْقُ مِنْهُ مُخَضّبُ
his inward parts exploded, and flying apart
His depths erupt and his limbs scatter
were his torn limbs; the horizon was bloodstained by him.
And the horizon stains red with him.
ليظَلَّso he may remain يَشْهَدُbearing witness أنthat أمّتناour nation هَوَتْfell
ليظَلَّ يَشْهَدُ أن أمّتنا هَوَتْ
وغَفَتْand slumbered وأطْبَقَand closed in فوْقَover ذلكthat غيْهَبُdeep darkness
وغَفَتْ وأطْبَقَ فوْقَ ذلك غيْهَبُ
so he may keep bearing witness that our nation has fallen,
To remain witnessing that our nation sank
and slumbered, while deep darkness closed over it all.
And slept, and above it gathered heavy clouds.
ويَقولُand he says : إنْif أخطأتُI erred، إنّindeed هَوانthe humiliation مَنْof whoever
ويَقولُ : إنْ أخطأتُ، إنّ هَوان مَنْ
تَرَabandoned (start) كَabandoned (end) الجِهادjihad أشدُّharsher منهُthan it وأصْعبُand harder
تَرَ كَ الجِهاد أشدُّ منهُ وأصْعبُ
And he says: If I erred, surely the humiliation of one who
And say: If I sinned, the disgrace of those
has abandoned jihad is harsher and harder than that.
Who neglected jihad is worse and harder.
أهلكتُI destroyed نَفْسيmyself؟ غَيْرexcept أنّthat سِوايَsomeone other than me أهـdestroyed (start)
أهلكتُ نَفْسي؟ غَيْر أنّ سِوايَ أهـ
لَكَdestroyed (end) أُمّةًa nation ومَضَىand went on يَهونُis abased ويُغلَبُand is defeated
لَكَ أُمّةً ومَضَى يَهونُ ويُغلَبُ

فدَعُوْاso leave أُمُوريَmy affairs وانْهَضواand rise لأُمُورِكُمْto your affairs

وافْتُواand issue rulings ! فذلكfor that لوif عَلمْتُمْyou knew أصْوَبُmore correct
وافْتُوا ! فذلك لو عَلمْتُمْ أصْوَبُ
So leave my affairs, and rise to attend to your own;
So leave my affairs be, and rise for your affairs,
and issue rulings! That, if you knew, is more correct.
And judge! For that, if you know, is best.
الخُلْفُdisagreement بيْنَكُمُamong you أضَرُّmore harmful عَلَيْكُمُto you
الخُلْفُ بيْنَكُمُ أضَرُّ عَلَيْكُمُ
واشَدُّand harsher منthan مَكْرِthe scheming العَدوِّof the enemy وأصْعَبُand harder
واشَدُّ من مَكْرِ العَدوِّ وأصْعَبُ
Discord among you is more harmful to you,
Division among you is more harmful to you
harsher and harder than the enemy's scheming.
And worse than the enemy’s plotting, harshest.
فِرَقاًinto factions تَمَزَّقُare torn apart كَمْhow much تَرَوْنyou see خِلالَهاamong them
فِرَقاً تَمَزَّقُ كَمْ تَرَوْن خِلالَها
شَرّاًevil يُدَارُis plotted وفتنةًand discord تَتَسرّبُseeps in
شَرّاً يُدَارُ وفتنةً تَتَسرّبُ

You see evil courted, sedition seeping.
فجّرْتُI blew up نَفْسِيَmyself! هلdid? فَتَحْتُمْyou opened بَعْدَهafter it
فجّرْتُ نَفْسِيَ! هل فَتَحْتُمْ بَعْدَه
دَرْباًa path إلىtoward النَّصْرِvictory العزيِزِglorious يُقرِّبُbrings nearer
دَرْباً إلى النَّصْرِ العزيِزِ يُقرِّبُ

a path drawing you closer to glorious victory?
