The lessons of the days suffice to restrain a man,

If he will not leave Riyyā be and willingly grow sober.

Daughters of noblemen, never troubled by hardship,

Radiant figurines, daubed with blended perfume.

I dallied with them, in secret love and lawful union,

Nor did I deceitfully forsake the covenant of those I loved.

They steal a languid glance from behind the curtains,

And reveal their fingers through a slit in the chamber curtains.
