Dark-eyed beauties stirred the sickness in your heart—

    Delicate women beside al-Miltat,

Affable in conversation, free of obscenity,

Raising the sides of the pavilion,

Folding plush coverlets of silk and

    Brocade over the curtained enclosures and patterned rugs;

Laden with flesh, yet in them

Is delicacy of fingertips and waists.

How sorely the camel-drivers grieved us as they departed,

When they urged their hooves onward with whips.

May God scatter them, those camel-drivers,

And may they acquire fever in place of vigor,

Just as they stirred my heart, leaving it

Distraught, after the bliss of contentment.
