أَبَاO father of مُنذرٍMundhir جازيتَyou repaid بِالوِدِّfor affection سُخطةًdispleasure
أَبَا مُنذرٍ جازيتَ بِالوِدِّ سُخطةً
فَمَاذاso what is جَزاءُthe reward of المُبغِضِthe hater المتَبَغِّضِone who makes himself hated
فَمَاذا جَزاءُ المُبغِضِ المتَبَغِّضِ
O Abu Mundhir, you repaid affection with displeasure.
So what is the reward for one who hates and makes himself hated?
فجازَيَتهُso you rewarded him فيin ذاthis المِثَالِpattern كَرامَةًhonor
فجازَيَتهُ في ذا المِثَالِ كَرامَةً
ولَستَand you are not لِشَيءٍin anything بَعدُhereafter بِالُمتعَرِّضِone who involves himself
ولَستَ لِشَيءٍ بَعدُ بِالُمتعَرِّضِ
So, following this pattern, you rewarded him with honor,
and you will involve yourself in nothing hereafter.
