وكِسرَىand Kisra إذwhen تَقَسَّمَهُdivided him among themselves بَنُوهُhis sons
وكِسرَى إذ تَقَسَّمَهُ بَنُوهُ
بِأَسَيافٍwith swords كَمَاas اقتُسِمَwas divided اللَّحَامُthe meat
بِأَسَيافٍ كَمَا اقتُسِمَ اللَّحَامُ
And Khosrow, when his sons divided him among themselves
And Kisra, when his sons divided him among themselves,
with swords, as butchered meat is apportioned;
With swords, as meat is divided,
تَمَخَّضَتِwent into labor المُنونُfate لَهُfor him بِيَومٍwith a day
تَمَخَّضَتِ المُنونُ لَهُ بِيَومٍ
أَتَىcame ولِكُلِّand for every حامِلَةٍpregnant woman تِمَامُa full term
أَتَى ولِكُلِّ حامِلَةٍ تِمَامُ
Fate labored to bring forth for him a day
Fate went into labor with a day for him,
that came—for every pregnant woman has her term.
That came—and every pregnant woman has her full term.
