ولاand do not تَكُbe فيin الإِلحاحِpersistence فيin إثرِthe wake of فائِتٍsomething lost
ولا تَكُ في الإِلحاحِ في إثرِ فائِتٍ
تُحاوِلُyou seek مِنهُfrom it فائِتاًsomething lost لَيسَis not يُطلَبُsought
تُحاوِلُ مِنهُ فائِتاً لَيسَ يُطلَبُ
And do not persist in pursuit of something lost,
seeking from it something gone that is not to be sought,
كَصَانِعَةِlike a female maker of القَزِّsilk الَّتيwho كُلَّماwhenever ارتَدَتshe clothed herself
كَصَانِعَةِ القَزِّ الَّتي كُلَّما ارتَدَت
بِصنعَتِهاin her handiwork كانَتshe was إلَىto اللَّبثِremaining in place أَقرَبُnearer
بِصنعَتِها كانَت إلَى اللَّبثِ أَقرَبُ
like the silk-maker who, whenever she clothed herself
in her handiwork, drew nearer to remaining confined.
