إِذاif قيلit is said مَنwho خَيرُthe best of هَذاthese الوَرىpeople
إِذا قيل مَن خَيرُ هَذا الوَرى
قَبيلاًin lineage وَأَكرَمُهُمand the noblest among them أَسرَتيmy family
قَبيلاً وَأَكرَمُهُم أَسرَتي
If asked, “Who is the best of these people
In lineage, and noblest among them?”—my family.
أَنافَbrought eminence بِعَبدِto ʿAbd مَنافٍManaf أَبٌa father
أَنافَ بِعَبدِ مَنافٍ أَبٌ
وَفَضلُهُand his excellence هاشِمHashim الغُرَّةِof the radiant brow
وَفَضلُهُ هاشِم الغُرَّةِ
A father brought eminence to ʿAbd Manaf,
And his glory is Hashim of the radiant brow.
لَقَدindeed حَلَّhas settled مَجدُthe glory of بَنيthe sons of هاشِمٍHashim
لَقَد حَلَّ مَجدُ بَني هاشِمٍ
مَكانَin the place of النَعائِمِal-Naʿāʾim (a star group) وَالنَثرَةِand al-Nathra (a star cluster)
مَكانَ النَعائِمِ وَالنَثرَةِ
Indeed, the glory of the sons of Hashim has settled
Where al-Naʿāʾim and al-Nathra shine.
وَخَيرُand the best of بَنيthe sons of هاشِمٍHashim أَحمَدٌAhmad
وَخَيرُ بَني هاشِمٍ أَحمَدٌ
رَسولُthe messenger of الإِلَهِGod عَلىafter فَترَةِan interval without messengers
رَسولُ الإِلَهِ عَلى فَترَةِ
And the best of the sons of Hashim is Ahmad,
The messenger of God after an interval without messengers.
