لله در الخالديّ

الأوحد النّدب الخطير

The Everlasting's gift to

The matchless, the perilous eulogy -

أهدى لماء المزن عن

د جموده نار السعير

He gave the Muzn's waters release

From stagnancy, Hellfire's blaze -

حتى إذا صدر العنا

ب اليه عن حنق الصدور

Until my breast was freed of spite

And hearts' rancor passed away,

بعثت اليه بعذره

منخاطري ابدي السرور

My thoughts sent him excuses,

Eternal happiness their way.

لا تعذلوه فإنه

أهدى الخدود إلى الثغور

Reproach him not, for he has given

His cheeks to death's open doors.
