Oh, many a full-length coat of mail has granted me a boon;

O Lord, she bestowed on me abundant grace,

I repaid it with harm, yet was not deemed foolish.

I repaid her with evil, unjustified.

أضحت تصون عن المنايا مهجتي

وظللت أبذلها لكل مهند

It came to shield my lifeblood from death,

She shielded my soul from death's embrace,

while I kept exposing it to every sword of Indian steel.

While I left her to every lowlife's blade.
