In it, I am as though on the edge of a well,

Guarding against a scorpion and watching for a mouse.

Fearing scorpion and dreading mouse

وإذا ما الرياح هبت رخاء

وإذا ما الرياح هبت رخاء

خلت حيطانها تميدا انهيارا

خلت حيطانها تميدا انهيارا

And whenever the winds blow gently,

And when soft winds blow

I imagine its walls tottering toward collapse.

Its walls begin to sway and collapse

رب عجل خرابها وارحني

من حذاري فقد مللت الحذارا

من حذاري فقد مللت الحذارا

Lord, hasten its ruin and relieve me

of my fear, for I am weary of fear.
