به صيد وحور فيه عينُ

The desert camp entices me with thoughts

within it are proud beauties and maidens with large, dark eyes.

Of hunting, maidens by a spring,

سللن من الحداق السود بيضاً

فما تدري قيان أم قيون

They drew gleaming swords from their black pupils—

Black tents pitched, white flocks grazing round,

so you cannot tell: songstresses or smiths?

Are they ewes or yearling lambs that roam?
