وأرَّقand kept awake الأرضَthe earth حتىuntil مَلَّتِshe wearied of الأرقاsleeplessness
The rain awoke after sleep and poured forth.
The rain awoke after slumber and poured down,
And kept the earth awake until she wearied of sleeplessness.
Making the earth soft until it was saturated.
وأصبحand by morning became الزَّهرُthe blossoms منثوراًscattered ومؤتلقاًand gleaming

By morning the blossoms were scattered and gleaming.
The flowers became scattered and hung,
And the garden was given morning and evening draughts.
And the meadow became illuminated and embraced.

And the pools surged, till a weary region
The valleys swelled until an area
Of heaven drew near the earth, and the two embraced.
Of the sky lowered to the earth and they embraced.

And the hillocks almost turned to moist soil because of it.
The sand dunes almost turned into soil from it,
And in that rain the earth's surface clothed itself in leaves.
And the page of the earth was clothed in leaves.

And it clung to the horizon until most of us
It accompanied the horizon until most of us
Would forget the stars—or the sky would bring forth no dawn.
Forgot the stars or the dawn did not split.

It satisfied us and gave so lavishly that the most eager among us said:
It watered and expanded until the most greedy among us
“We fault it for no trait but its extravagance.”
Said, "We do not blame anything but its excess of manner."

The earth's face kept urging on its copious flow,
It continued to pour down upon the face of the earth
Until I thought the hills were gorged, choking on water.
Until I thought the open country was overflowing eastward.
