وتركي مواساة الأخلاءِ بالذي

وتركي مواساة الأخلاءِ بالذي

تَنال يَدَي ظُلمٍ لهم وعقوقُ

تَنال يَدَي ظُلمٍ لهم وعقوقُ

And my failing to support close friends with what

I leave consoling false friends to what

my hand obtains is injustice to them and disloyalty.

My hands reap of injustice and wrong for them,

وإني لأستحي من الله أن أُرى

وإني لأستحي من الله أن أُرى

مجال اتِّساعٍ والصديق مضيقُ

مجال اتِّساعٍ والصديق مضيقُ

And I am indeed ashamed before God to be seen

And I am ashamed before God should I seem

living at ease while my friend is in straits.

To have room to move while a friend is confined.
