تعاليتَyou rose above عنbeyond قدرِthe measure of المدائحpraises صاعداًascending
تعاليتَ عن قدرِ المدائح صاعداً
فَسِيَّانَand so, alike عَفوُspontaneous القولِspeech عندكَin your eyes والحمدُand praise
فَسِيَّانَ عَفوُ القولِ عندكَ والحمدُ
You have risen, ascending beyond the measure of praise.
So, in your eyes, unstudied speech and praise are alike.
وإنيand indeed I لاdo not أدريknow أنَّthat وَصفَكَdescribing you زائدٌexceeds
وإني لا أدري أنَّ وَصفَكَ زائدٌ
علىbeyond منطقيmy speech لكنbut علىupon الواصفthe describer الجهدُthe effort
على منطقي لكن على الواصف الجهدُ
And I do not know whether describing you exceeds
my powers of speech; yet the one who describes must strive.
وأنَّand that قليلa little القولِspeech يَكثُرgrows زيغُهُits deviation
وأنَّ قليل القولِ يَكثُر زيغُهُ
إذاwhen أغرقتoverwhelmed فيهin it الموالاةُdevotion والوُدُّand affection
إذا أغرقت فيه الموالاةُ والوُدُّ
Even a little speech can stray greatly
when devotion and affection pour into it.
