عَبوسٌscowling شَموسٌuntamable مُصلَخِدٌstiffly erect مُكابِرٌdefiant
عَبوسٌ شَموسٌ مُصلَخِدٌ مُكابِرٌ
جَريءٌbold عَلىagainst الأَقرانِrivals لِلقِرنِof the opponent قاهِرُvanquisher
جَريءٌ عَلى الأَقرانِ لِلقِرنِ قاهِرُ
Scowling, untamable, stiffly erect, defiant;
Bold against rivals, the vanquisher of his opponent;
مَنيعٌunassailable وَيَحميand he guards كُلَّevery وادٍvalley يَرومُهُhe seeks it
مَنيعٌ وَيَحمي كُلَّ وادٍ يَرومُهُ
شَديدstrong أُصولroots الماضِغينَthe two jaw muscles مكابِرُdefiant
شَديد أُصول الماضِغينَ مكابِرُ
Unassailable, he guards every valley he seeks;
Powerful at the roots of his jaw muscles, defiant;
بَراثِنُهُhis paws شَثُنٌthick and rough وَعَيناهُand his two eyes فيin الدُجىthe darkness
بَراثِنُهُ شَثُنٌ وَعَيناهُ في الدُجى
كَجَمرِlike embers of الغَضاghada wood فيon وَجهِهِhis face الشَرُّevil ظاهِرُplainly visible
كَجَمرِ الغَضا في وَجهِهِ الشَرُّ ظاهِرُ
His paws are thick and rough, and his eyes in the darkness
Are like embers of ghada wood; evil is plain upon his face.
يُدِلُّhe takes pride بِأَنيابin fangs حدادٍsharp كَأَنَّهاas though they were
يُدِلُّ بِأَنياب حدادٍ كَأَنَّها
إِذاwhen قَلَّصَhe draws back الأَشداقَthe corners of the mouth عَنهاfrom them خَناجِرُdaggers
إِذا قَلَّصَ الأَشداقَ عَنها خَناجِرُ
He takes pride in sharp fangs that seem,
When he draws his jowls back from them, like daggers.
