والقلب يتبعها والجسم بالأثر
A letter has set forth, with longing urging it on,
A missive issued, while yearning spurs it on
The heart following it, and the body in its wake.
With the heart following it, and the body in its tracks

أضنى الفؤاد وتستشفيك من ضمر
It sought your courtyard, asking you to quench a thirst
Your land thirsts, seeking drink from you
That has worn the heart down, and seeking your cure for wasting.
The heart is famished, and seeks healing from you

إن كان في الغيب إنساء من العمر
And meeting you brings immediate kindness and visions,
In meeting with you, present good, and visions
If the unseen holds a further span of life.
If in the unseen there is forgetting from life

Whoever loses the way while darkness lingers
Whoever missed the path, and darkness persists
Has no guide for his eye but the radiance of the moon.
His eyes see no light but the radiance of the moon
