Sol 6.1

  1. لأهلِ الهَوى في الدَّمع والسُّهدِ لَذَّةٌ

    إذا اختُبرَت لم تُبقِ حِسّاً ولا عَقلا

    For lovers, tears and sleeplessness hold a delight

    Which, once experienced, leaves neither sense nor reason.

  2. لآثارِهِم إيثارُ كُلِّ متَيَّمٍ

    يُنَافِسُ في المَحبُوبِ بِالثَّمَنِ الأغلَى

    Every enthralled lover favors their traces,

    Vying for the beloved with the highest price.

  3. لأسرارِ هَذا الحُبِّ بالقَلبِ لَوطَةٌ

    فيَفنى ومَا تفنى وَيَبلَى ومَا تَبلى

    This love's secrets have a hold upon the heart;

    It perishes, but they do not; it wears away, but they do not.

  4. لأَجلِكَ هذا القَلبُ يهفُو مَحَبَّةً

    وإن كَنتَ لَم تمطرهُ طَلاًّ ولا وَبلا

    For your sake, this heart flutters with love,

    Though you have showered it with neither drizzle nor downpour.

  5. لأنَّكَ لي سُؤلٌ وأنَّكَ لي مُنىً

    وأنَّكَ لي حِبٌّ وأنَّكَ لي مَولى

    For you are my desire, and you are my hopes,

    And you are my beloved, and you are my master.

  6. لآلُىء دَمعي فيكَ ينشرُها الأسى

    تَخافُ النَّوى طَوراً وتَرتِقَبُ الوَصلا

    Sorrow scatters the pearls of my tears for you;

    At times they fear separation, and they await union.

  7. لأنتَ الَّذي ما لِلهوى عَنهُ مَذهبٌ

    فَمَقصَدُكَ الأعلَى ومَورِدُكَ الأحلَى

    Indeed, you are the one from whom love has no escape;

    So yours is the loftiest goal, and yours the sweetest watering place.

  8. لأمرٍ رَجَوتُ الوَعدَ مِنكَ لأنَّني

    إذا نِلتُ منكَ الوَعدَ لم أحذَرِ المَطلا

    For a reason I hoped for a promise from you, for I—

    Once I obtain your promise—have no fear of delay.

  9. لإغبابِ مَرآكَ الفُؤادُ مُدَلَّهٌ

    فآونَةً يُضحي وآونَةً يُصلى

    Because it sees you only at intervals, the heart is distraught;

    So at times it is exposed to the sun, and at times it is scorched.

  10. لَئن لم أنَل منك المُنى فَلِعِلَّةٍ

    وإن نِلتُها يَوماً فَلَستُ لهَا أهلا

    If indeed I do not attain my wishes from you, it is for a reason;

    And if I attain them one day, I am not worthy of them.
