    By remembering You we seek sufficiency, and You alone we worship.

    And You are the One we invoke, and You we proclaim One.

    And who would hope in any but You, when unceasingly

    blessings from Your bounty are renewed among us?

    وكم منّة من بعدها لا تعدد

    You guided us to Islam—the first favor;

    and how many favors after it are beyond counting!

    And You freed us from want and spared us

    hardships that, but for You, would never have receded.

    وواللهِ لولا الله ما بطشت يَدُ

    So, by God, but for God no eye would gaze;

    and by God, but for God no hand would strike.

    So, O you who seek refuge at a door other than His,

    awake! There is none but God; no hand has struck.

    If today you trust in a created being,

    then who will secure that creature for you if tomorrow comes?

    Reflect, for God's handiwork—exalted be His praise—

    bears witness against you to God's oneness.

    And among His kindnesses to His servants—glory be to Him—

    is an imam, aided by divine decree and guided aright.

    شدَّ عرى التّوحيد والسيف

    He guarded Islam's heartland with his gaze lowered;

    he tightened the bonds of divine unity, and the sword...

    لذاك أعاديه تقوم وتقعد

    And in the undertaking he sought help only from his Lord;

    for that, his enemies rise and sit in agitation.

    وهل جَمَعَ الدارين إلاَّ مؤيد

    For him God united religion and worldly life;

    and who could unite the two abodes but one divinely aided?

    So in every lowland is a garden for recreation,

    and in every highland a mosque for night prayer.

    And who is like the Commander of the Faithful? In his keeping

    is the inner secret of God's command, and he is made everlasting.

    يناسبها في القدر هذا المقلَّد

    The caliphate over the Muslims' affairs is a necklace;

    this wearer matches it in worth.

    Watering places defended by spearheads and sword edges—

    so whoever wishes, let him approach death's watering place.

    Its mirage deceives the minds of doubters,

    yet beneath it is nothing but the unsheathed sword.

    So, praise be to God, we dwell in the shade of a blessing:

    a heavenly sovereign and a firmly established realm.

    له العدل درعٌ والدعاء مهند

    We are safe from what we fear through the blessing of a caliph;

    justice is his shield, and supplication his Indian-steel sword.

    So tell the enemies: Submit before a battle

    that will be a blazing coal upon you.

    If what you hoped for was distant from you yesterday,

    then its attainment is even farther from you today.

    God has decreed that oath-breakers are abased,

    and that the Commander of the Faithful is Muhammad.
