من خدم المولى بإخلاصه

عزَّّ ولم يحتج لذلّ العبيد

عزَّّ ولم يحتج لذلّ العبيد

Whoever serves the Lord with sincerity

gains honor and need not endure a servant’s abasement.

وخادم المخلوق إما على

وخادم المخلوق إما على

مهانة أوف ي عذاب شديد

مهانة أوف ي عذاب شديد

And one who serves a created being is either in

humiliation or in severe torment.

يرجو ويخشى بَشَراً مثله

يرجو ويخشى بَشَراً مثله

ذاك ضلالٌ ما عليه مزيد

ذاك ضلالٌ ما عليه مزيد

He places his hopes in—and fears—a human like himself.

That is misguidance that cannot be surpassed.

يا سارياً في ظلمات الهوى

يا سارياً في ظلمات الهوى

وخادمَ المخلوقِ ماذا تريد

وخادمَ المخلوقِ ماذا تريد

O night-traveler in the darkness of desire,

and servant of a created being, what do you seek?

تطلبُ يسراً من يدي مُعسِرِ

تطلبُ يسراً من يدي مُعسِرِ

أفِق فهذا مطلبٌ لا يفيد

أفِق فهذا مطلبٌ لا يفيد

You seek ease from the hands of one in want.

Come to your senses, for this pursuit brings no benefit.

قد قرَّب اللهُ لك المجتنى

قد قرَّب اللهُ لك المجتنى

لكن تنادي من مكان بعيد

لكن تنادي من مكان بعيد

Indeed, God has brought the fruit within your reach,

yet you call out from a distant place.
