إذا أمّلت من مولاك قرباً

إذا أمّلت من مولاك قرباً

فجدِّد ذكر خير الأنبياء

فجدِّد ذكر خير الأنبياء

If you hope for nearness to your Lord,

If you hope for closeness to your Lord,

renew the remembrance of the best of prophets.

then renew remembrance of the best of the prophets.

وصلِّ عليه أول كلّ قول

وصلِّ عليه أول كلّ قول

وآخره بصبح والمساء

وآخره بصبح والمساء

Invoke blessings upon him at the start of every utterance

And invoke blessings upon him at the beginning of every utterance

and at its end, morning and evening.

and at its end, at dawn and in the evening.

فإن محمداً أعلى البرايا

فإن محمداً أعلى البرايا

محلاَّ في السيادة والعلاء

محلاَّ في السيادة والعلاء

For Muhammad stands highest among all creation

For Muhammad is the highest of all creatures

in rank, sovereignty, and exalted glory.

in rank, in preeminence and glory.

لواء الحمد في يمنى يديه

لواء الحمد في يمنى يديه

وكلُّ الناس من دون اللواء

وكلُّ الناس من دون اللواء

The Banner of Praise shall be in his right hand,

The banner of praise is in his right hand,

with all humanity beneath the banner.

and all people are beneath the banner.

فحدِّث عن دلائله ففيها

فحدِّث عن دلائله ففيها

شفاء للنُّهى من كلِّ داء

شفاء للنُّهى من كلِّ داء

So speak of the proofs of his prophethood: in them lies

So speak of his signs, for in them

a cure for discerning minds from every malady.

is a cure for every ailment of the intellect.

ولست بناقل للعشر منها

ولست بناقل للعشر منها

وهل تفنى الزواخر بالدلاء

وهل تفنى الزواخر بالدلاء

Yet I shall not recount even ten of them—

And you cannot recount a tenth of them;

can brimming seas be emptied with buckets?

and can brimming seas be drained with buckets?

فقل للسامعين قفوا فهذا

فقل للسامعين قفوا فهذا

محال ليس يحصر بانتهاء

محال ليس يحصر بانتهاء

So tell the listeners, “Pause, for this

So tell the listeners: Stop! For this

is a domain no endpoint can encompass.”

is impossible—it cannot be bounded by any end.

براهين البسيطة ليس تحصى

براهين البسيطة ليس تحصى

فدونكُمُ براهين السماء

فدونكُمُ براهين السماء

The proofs spread across the earth cannot be numbered;

The proofs of the earth cannot be counted,

so here before you are the proofs of heaven.

so consider the proofs of heaven.
