يُعرىis laid bare هَواكَyour love إِلىtoward أَسماءَAsma وَاِحتَظَرَتand she fenced herself off
يُعرى هَواكَ إِلى أَسماءَ وَاِحتَظَرَت
بِالنَأيِthrough distance وَالبُخلِand stinginess فيماin what كانَwas قَدalready سَلَفاhad passed
بِالنَأيِ وَالبُخلِ فيما كانَ قَد سَلَفا
Your love toward Asma is laid bare, while she has fenced herself off
Through distance and withholding, in days already past.
وَحَدَّثَand told الدُهنَthe oil وَالدِفلىand the oleander خَبيرُكُمُyour informant
وَحَدَّثَ الدُهنَ وَالدِفلى خَبيرُكُمُ
وَسالَand flowed تَحتَكُمُbeneath you سَيلٌa torrent فَماso it did not نَشِفاdry up
وَسالَ تَحتَكُمُ سَيلٌ فَما نَشِفا
And your informant told the oil and the oleander,
And a torrent flowed beneath you and did not dry up.
وَالكَبشُand the ram هرجٌfrenzied إِذاwhen نَبَّbleated العَتودُthe young he-goat لَهُto him
وَالكَبشُ هرجٌ إِذا نَبَّ العَتودُ لَهُ
زَوزىscurried بِأَليَتِهِwith his fat tail لِلذُّلِّin abasement وَاِعتَرَفاand conceded
زَوزى بِأَليَتِهِ لِلذُّلِّ وَاِعتَرَفا
And the ram is frenzied when the young he-goat bleats to him;
He scurries with his fat tail in abasement, and concedes.
رَمٌّa greedy eater رَغولٌa furtive suckler إِذاwhen اِغبَرَّتbecame dusty مَوارِدُهhis watering places
رَمٌّ رَغولٌ إِذا اِغبَرَّت مَوارِدُه
وَلاand not يَنامُsleeps لَهُof his جارٌa neighbor إِذاwhen اِختَرَفاgathered fruit
وَلا يَنامُ لَهُ جارٌ إِذا اِختَرَفا
A greedy eater, a furtive suckler, when his watering places grow dusty,
And no neighbor of his sleeps when he gathers fruit.
قَدindeed شاعَhas spread فيamong الناسِthe people فيماin what يُذكرانِthe two are spoken of بِهِfor it
قَد شاعَ في الناسِ فيما يُذكرانِ بِهِ
وَهىgrew weak الأَديمُthe hide وَأَنَّand that الحَوضَthe basin قَدalready لُقِفاwas undermined
وَهى الأَديمُ وَأَنَّ الحَوضَ قَد لُقِفا
It has spread among the people, among the things said of those two,
That the hide has weakened, and that the basin has been undermined.
