مُرَتِّبُ الحُزنِ في القُلوبِ

مُرَتِّبُ الحُزنِ في القُلوبِ

وَناصِرُ العَزمِ في الذُنوبِ

وَناصِرُ العَزمِ في الذُنوبِ

The arranger of sorrow in hearts,

Arranger of sadness in hearts

And the champion of resolve in sin.

And supporter of determination in sins

ما شِئتَ مِن مَنظَرٍ عَجيبٍ

ما شِئتَ مِن مَنظَرٍ عَجيبٍ

فيهِ وَمِن مَنطِقٍ أَريبِ

فيهِ وَمِن مَنطِقٍ أَريبِ

Whatever wondrous sight you wish for

Whatever strange scene you wished for

Is in him, and whatever wise speech.

In it and whatever deceptive speech

لَمّا رَأى رِقبَةَ الأَعادي

لَمّا رَأى رِقبَةَ الأَعادي

عَلى مُعَنّىً بِهِ كَئيبِ

عَلى مُعَنّىً بِهِ كَئيبِ

When he saw the enemies keeping watch

When he saw the necks of enemies

Over a sorrowful one tormented by him,

Based on a meaning that saddens him

جَرَّدَ لي مِن هَواهُ وُدّاً

جَرَّدَ لي مِن هَواهُ وُدّاً

صارَ رَقيباً عَلى الرَقيبِ

صارَ رَقيباً عَلى الرَقيبِ

He drew forth affection for me from his passion,

He stripped away his love and affection for me

Which became a watcher over the watcher.

And became a watcher over the watcher
