حَسَراتٌ عَواطِفُ

وَسَقامٌ مُوالِفُ

وَسَقامٌ مُوالِفُ

Recurring sorrows,

Regrets are emotions

and ever-present sickness,

And sickness is affection

وَفُؤادٌ مُعَذَّبٌ

وَفُؤادٌ مُعَذَّبٌ

وَدُموعٌ ذَوارِفُ

وَدُموعٌ ذَوارِفُ

and a tormented heart,

And my heart is tortured

and streaming tears.

And tears are pouring

يا قَريبَ المَزارِ

يا قَريبَ المَزارِ

لَكِنَّهُ لا يُساعِفُ

لَكِنَّهُ لا يُساعِفُ

O you so near to visit—

O you who is near in burial

yet he does not oblige.

But does not offer help

نَصبُ عَيني خَيالُ وَجهِ

نَصبُ عَيني خَيالُ وَجهِ

كَ بِالشَوقِ واقِفُ

كَ بِالشَوقِ واقِفُ

Before my eyes, the image of your face

The specter of your face stands before my eyes

stands in longing.

Out of ardent yearning

أَينَما كُنتَ سَيِّدي

أَينَما كُنتَ سَيِّدي

طافَ بي مِنكَ طائِفُ

طافَ بي مِنكَ طائِفُ

Wherever you are, my lord,

Wherever you are, my master

a vision of you circles round me.

Something of you revolves around me
