أَباO Abū (father of) سَعيدٍSaʿīd تَلاقَتconverged عِندَكَat your side النِعَمُblessings
فَأَنتَfor you are طَودٌa mighty mountain لَناfor us مُنجٍa savior وَمُعتَصَمُand a refuge
O Abū Saʿīd, blessings have converged at your side.
For you are a mighty mountain to us, a savior and a refuge.
لازالَmay ... never cease جودُكَyour generosity يَخشىfears صَولَتَهُits onslaught
وَزالَand vanished عودُكَyour bough تَسقيwater رَوضَهُits meadow الدِيَمُsteady rains
May your generosity never cease to fear its onslaught.
And your bough vanished; steady rains water its meadow.
أَشرَفتُI looked out مِنكَthrough you عَلىupon بَحرَصِunclear as written; perhaps 'a sea' الغِنىwealth وَيَديand my hand
يَجولُroams فيacross مُستَواهاits flat surface الفَقرُpoverty وَالعَدَمُand destitution
Through you I looked out upon [a sea?] of wealth, while my hand—
Poverty and destitution roam across its flat surface.
فَسَوفَso ... will يُثبِتُfirmly establish رُكنَthe pillar of المَدحِpraise فيكَconcerning you أَخٌa brother
لَولاbut for رَجاؤُكَhope in you لَمdid not يَثبُتstand firm لَهُfor him قَدَمُa foot
So a brother will firmly establish the pillar of praise for you,
But for hope in you, no foot of his would have stood firm.
أَحرَمتُI entered ritual consecration دونَكَbefore reaching you خَوفَfor fear of النائِباتِcalamities فَماso ... not
شَكَكتُI doubted إِذwhen قُمتَyou stood دونيin my defense أَنَّكَthat you الحَرَمُthe sacred sanctuary
I entered ritual consecration before reaching you, fearing calamities; so I did not
Doubt, when you stood shielding me, that you were the sacred sanctuary.
