راحَتي في البُكاءِ حَتّى أَراكا

إِنَّ لي مِنكَ شاغِلاً عَن سِواكا

My solace is in weeping until I see you.

Indeed, you occupy me to the exclusion of all others.

For you distract me from all except you

تَعِسَ الهَجرُ وَالَّذي شَأنُهُ الهَج

تَعِسَ الهَجرُ وَالَّذي شَأنُهُ الهَج

رُ مِنَ الناسِ كُلِّهِم حاشاكا

رُ مِنَ الناسِ كُلِّهِم حاشاكا

Woe to estrangement and to anyone whose way is estrangement,

Wretched is separation, for its nature is separation

among all people, except you.

أَرشِدَنّي إِلى رِضاكَ فَإِنّي

أَرشِدَنّي إِلى رِضاكَ فَإِنّي

لَستُ أَدري ما حيلَتي في رِضاكا

Guide me to your favor, for I

Guide me to your approval, for I

do not know how to win your favor.

Do not know what I can do to gain your approval

وَإِذا قيلَ مَن تُحِبُّ تَخَطّا

وَإِذا قيلَ مَن تُحِبُّ تَخَطّا

كَ لِساني وَأَنتَ في القَلبِ ذاكا

كَ لِساني وَأَنتَ في القَلبِ ذاكا

And when asked, 'Whom do you love?' you are passed over

And if it is said "Whom do you love?"

by my tongue, though in my heart you are the one.

My tongue falters, though you are in my heart
