إِنَّ عَبدونَ أَرضُهُ مَمطورَه

إِنَّ عَبدونَ أَرضُهُ مَمطورَه

فَهيَ طَوعٌ نَباتُها وَضَرورَه

فَهيَ طَوعٌ نَباتُها وَضَرورَه

Indeed, Abdun’s ground is rained upon;

The land of Abdoon is well-watered,

so its growth comes willingly and of necessity.

So its plants grow easily and necessarily.

سَهَّلَ الأَمرَ إِذ تَوَعَّرَ بِالشَع

سَهَّلَ الأَمرَ إِذ تَوَعَّرَ بِالشَع

رِ فَجاءَت سُهولَةً وَوُعورَه

رِ فَجاءَت سُهولَةً وَوُعورَه

He smoothed the matter when hair had made it rough,

He made things easy when he dug with a shovel,

and it came out both smooth and rough.

So it became smooth and passable.

أَعمَلَ النَتفَ وَاِطَّلى وَقَديماً

أَعمَلَ النَتفَ وَاِطَّلى وَقَديماً

كانَ صَعباً أَن تُشعَبَ القارورَه

كانَ صَعباً أَن تُشعَبَ القارورَه

He used plucking and applied depilatory—and long ago

He did his best and strove,

it was hard to mend a glass bottle.

When it used to be hard to pierce the bottle.

لا تُقاتِل كَتائِبَ الشَعَرِ الأَس

لا تُقاتِل كَتائِبَ الشَعَرِ الأَس

وَدِ جَهلاً فَإِنَّها مَنصورَه

وَدِ جَهلاً فَإِنَّها مَنصورَه

Do not fight the battalions of black hair

Do not fight the regiments of black poetry ignorantly,

in ignorance, for they are victorious.

For they are victorious.

لَيسَ تُغنى شَيئاً وَلَو كُنتَ قارو

لَيسَ تُغنى شَيئاً وَلَو كُنتَ قارو

نَ الغِنى وَاِشتَرَيتَ دَربَ النورَه

نَ الغِنى وَاِشتَرَيتَ دَربَ النورَه

It avails nothing, even if you were Qarun

You will gain nothing even if you were Qaroon, the rich,

in wealth and bought the Lane of Depilatory Lime.

And bought the path of light.
