سَأَهجو الوَغدَ مُقرانَ

سَأَهجو الوَغدَ مُقرانَ

فَلا غَروَ وَلا بِدعا

فَلا غَروَ وَلا بِدعا

I shall lampoon the scoundrel Muqrān;

I will satirize the morrow, without falsehood or innovation

so there is no wonder, nor anything new.

A man, if he turns away, loses nothing

فَتىً ما إِن تَخَلَّت ذا

فَتىً ما إِن تَخَلَّت ذا

تُهُ مِن حَيَّةٍ تَسعى

تُهُ مِن حَيَّةٍ تَسعى

A youth whose body has never been free

When hungry, he feeds on himself

of a slithering snake.

If stuffed inside, like clothes, he emerges wrinkled

إِذا ما جاعَتِ الفيشُ

إِذا ما جاعَتِ الفيشُ

غَدَت في ذاتِهِ تَرعى

غَدَت في ذاتِهِ تَرعى

When the penis-heads grow hungry,

Hit him with a slap that stuns eyes and ears

they go grazing in his body.

If he doesn't understand poetry quickly, he'll understand a slap

إِذا ما أُدخِلَت كَالبُس

إِذا ما أُدخِلَت كَالبُس

رِ فيهِ خَرَجَت شَمعا

رِ فيهِ خَرَجَت شَمعا

When they are inserted like unripe dates

into him, they emerge as wax.

وَأَلقاهُ بِلَطمٍ يَه

وَأَلقاهُ بِلَطمٍ يَه

تِكُ الأَبصارَ وَالسَمعا

تِكُ الأَبصارَ وَالسَمعا

And I shall meet him with slaps that rend

sight and hearing.

فَإِن لَم يَفهَمِ الشِعرَ

فَإِن لَم يَفهَمِ الشِعرَ

سَريعاً فَهِمَ الصَفعا

سَريعاً فَهِمَ الصَفعا

For if he does not understand verse

quickly, he will understand slapping.
