I gave you a love that was a child and has now grown.

And you showed me a body bereft of love.

I see the fruit of the kindness I have planted,

Trellised over a roof of poles of unjust reproach.

And I have, O you whose breast is free of love's burning anguish,

A heart—I do not know whether it is an ember or a heart.

So cure a sickness arising from it, spreading through the body,

As beauty has spread across the expanses of your face.

So I swear: were you to appear before Muraqqish's eye,

You would surely make Muraqqish forget Asma.
