كَالغَيثِ في اِنسِكابِه

كَالغَيثِ في اِنسِكابِه

Hasan ibn Wahb

Is like rain in its pouring.

Is like rain in its pouring

في الشَرخِ مِن حِجاهُ

في الشَرخِ مِن حِجاهُ

وَالشَرخِ مِن شَبابِه

وَالشَرخِ مِن شَبابِه

In the prime of his wisdom,

In the cleft from his glory

And the prime of his youth,

And the cleft from his youth

وَالخِصبِ مِن نَداهُ

وَالخِصبِ مِن نَداهُ

وَالخِصبِ مِن جَنابِه

وَالخِصبِ مِن جَنابِه

And the abundance of his bounty,

And the fertility from his bounty

And the abundance of his abode,

And the fertility from his vigor

وَمَنصِبٍ نَماهُ

وَمَنصِبٍ نَماهُ

وَوالِدٍ سَما بِه

وَوالِدٍ سَما بِه

And a lineage that raised him,

And the position he enabled

And a father who exalted him,

And the father who guided him

نُطنِبُ كَيفَ شينا

نُطنِبُ كَيفَ شينا

فيهِ وَلَم نُحابِه

فيهِ وَلَم نُحابِه

We speak at length however we please

We revel how we slandered him

Of him, without flattering him.

And did not abstain from him

وَحُلَّةٍ كَساها

وَحُلَّةٍ كَساها

كَالحَليِ وَاِلتِهابِه

كَالحَليِ وَاِلتِهابِه

And a robe he clothed me in,

And the robe he was clothed in

Like jewels in their blaze,

Like jewelry and its inflammation

فَاِستَنبَطَت مَديحاً

فَاِستَنبَطَت مَديحاً

كَالأَريِ في لِصابِه

كَالأَريِ في لِصابِه

Drew forth a poem of praise,

So it extracted praise

Like honey in its rocky crevices.

Like the bellies in their cribs

فَراحَ في ثَنائي

فَراحَ في ثَنائي

وَرُحتُ في ثِيابِه

وَرُحتُ في ثِيابِه

So he went forth in my praise,

So he went on in my praise

And I went forth in his robes.

While I went on in his attire
