أَلاdo you not تَرىsee ماhow أَصدَقَtruthful الأَنواءَthe rain-stars
قَدindeed أَفنَتِhave ended الحَجرَةَthe drought وَاللَأواءَand the hardship
Do you not see how truthful the rain-stars are?
See how truthful the winds have been
They have ended drought and hardship.
They have devastated the chamber and shelter
فَلَوso if عَصَرتَyou squeezed الصَخرَthe rock صارَwould become ماءَwater
مِنfrom لَيلَةٍa night بِتناwe passed the night بِهاin it لَيلاءَlong and dark
So if you squeezed the rock, it would turn to water,
If you were to squeeze a rock it would become water
From a long, dark night we lived through.
From a night we spent with a tender companion
إِنif هِيَit عادَتreturned لَيلَةًfor a night عِداءاin succession
أَصبَحَتِwould become by morning الأَرضُthe earth إِذَنthen سَماءَsky
If it returned for another night in succession,
If it comes back as a night of separation
The earth would then become sky by morning.
The earth will become, then, a sky
