And one with enchanting glances and cheek,

    Well-proportioned in stature and form:

His beauty made me his slave,

And my gaze has made him my slave.

He said—while my eye, gazing into his,

Was reveling in the garden of eternity—

“Your gaze is an adulterer.” I said, “Then my tears

Flog it beyond the prescribed penalty.”

So he blushed until I could scarcely see

His cheek, for the profusion of roses.

    Beauty and fragrance, when united,

Are, to me, two slaves of Abu Abd.
