وَليand I have مِنَfrom الدُنياthis world هَوىًa love واحِدٌone
وَلي مِنَ الدُنيا هَوىً واحِدٌ
ياO رَبِّmy Lord فَاِصفَحso forgive ليme عَنِfor الواحِدِthat one
يا رَبِّ فَاِصفَح لي عَنِ الواحِدِ
And in this world I have but one love.
O my Lord, forgive me for that one love.
لاdo not تَترُكَنّيever leave me فيهِconcerning him ياO ذاpossessor of العُلاthe heights
لا تَترُكَنّي فيهِ يا ذا العُلا
أُحدوثَةَa subject of gossip الصادِرِthe departing one وَالوارِدِand the arriving one
أُحدوثَةَ الصادِرِ وَالوارِدِ
Do not leave me, on his account, O Lord of the heights,
The talk of those who go and those who come.
ياO رَبِّmy Lord إِنif فارَقتُهُI part from him بَعدَماafter
يا رَبِّ إِن فارَقتُهُ بَعدَما
أَضرَعَنيhe has humbled me لِلشامِتِbefore the gloating one الحاسِدِthe envious one
أَضرَعَني لِلشامِتِ الحاسِدِ
O my Lord, if I part from him after
He has humbled me before the gloating envier,
فَأَلحِقِthen consign الروحَthe soul وَجُثمانَهُand its body
فَأَلحِقِ الروحَ وَجُثمانَهُ
بِوَهدَةِto the hollow of المُحتَفِرِthe digger اللاحِدِthe grave-niche cutter
بِوَهدَةِ المُحتَفِرِ اللاحِدِ
Then consign the soul and its body
To the hollow dug by the gravedigger.
