A sun amid gloom rose from a slender bough.
The sun of adornment peered out from behind the veil
She commanded her two eyes to take hearts captive.
Her eyes commanded the captivation of hearts
لَوif تَحُلُّshe lifts القِناعَthe veil لِلشَمسِbefore the sun وَالبَدand the full moon (first part)
رِfull moon (final part) ضِياءًradiance تَقَنَّعاboth would veil themselves بِغُروبِby setting
Were she to lift her veil before the sun and the full
If only the veil would lift from the face of the sun and the full moon
moon, revealing her radiance, both would veil themselves by setting.
Content with the radiance of sunset

I am wounded by the glance of his two eyes.
I am wounded by the glance of her eyelashes
I seek healing with a tear and sobbing.
I heal myself with tears and lament
حُرَقُburning pangs الشَوقِof longing وَالهَوىand love يَتَصاthey cry out together (first part)

The burning pangs of longing and love cry
The scorching of passion and love persists
out together over me, their collars torn.
My torn garments cry out over me
