    I entered a house like a lover’s heart,

    with no clothes there but my skin.

    فما ساغ إلا فيه خلع ثيابي

    I appear there as a consecrated pilgrim, though it is no Kaaba;

    for only there was shedding my clothes permissible.

    With water like a lover’s tears in his heart’s burning heat,

    when his loved ones announce their departure.

    I imagined within it a piece of Hell,

    yet it was without the touch of punishment.

    It raises a mist with steam, shrouding

    full moons of glass within suns of domes.
