1. وقشمش كخزز

    للنظم لم يثقب

    And raisins, like beads

    not pierced for stringing.

  2. يبلى به الكاس لما

    بينهما من نسب

    The wine-cup is put to the test by them, because

    of the kinship between the two.

  3. يحظى بيه الشارب في

    النادي ومن لم يشرب

    The drinker enjoys them at

    the gathering, as does one who does not drink.

  4. كأنه أوعية

    يحملن ذوب الضرب

    As though they were vessels

    bearing melted white honey,

  5. أو لؤلؤ حلى أعلا

    ه بماء الذهب

    Or pearls adorned on top

    with liquid gold.

  6. خصت به مرأة

    فاختصت بأعلى الرتب

    A woman was favored with them,

    and so attained the highest ranks.
