أَلاIndeed لاnot أُباليI care فيin pursuit of العُلىglory ماwhatever أَصابَنيbefalls me
وَإِنand even if نَقِبَتwear through نَعلايَmy two sandals أَوor حَفِيَتis rubbed raw رِجليmy foot
Indeed, I care not what befalls me in pursuit of glory,
I care not what befalls me in life's journey,
even if my sandals wear through or my foot is rubbed raw.
Though my shoes be worn or legs grow weary,
فَلَمfor ... not تَرَsee عَينيmy eye قَطُّever أَحسَنَmore beautiful مَنظَراًa sight
مِنَthan النَكبِthe wound يَدمىbleeds فيin المُواساةِhelping others وَالبَذلِand giving
For my eye has never seen a fairer sight
For naught to me was e'er a fairer vision,
than a wound bleeding for the sake of helping others and giving.
Than one who stoops in mercy and revision,
وَلَستُand I am not أُباليI care مَنwho تَأَوَّبَvisits by night مَنزِليmy home
إِذاif بَقِيَتremain عِنديwith me السَراويلُthe trousers أَوor نَعليmy sandal
Nor do I care who visits my home by night,
Caring not whose abode may greet me daily,
so long as trousers or my sandal remain with me.
If my shoes and pants remain unworn barely.
