إِلَيكَtoward you اِبنَson of موسىMusa الجودِgenerosity أَعمَلتُI urged onward ناقَتيmy she-camel
مُجَلَّلَةًdraped يَضفوhangs amply عَلَيهاover her جِلالُهاher saddlecloths
Toward you, son of Musa the Generous, I urged my she-camel,
Draped, her saddlecloths hanging amply over her.
كَتومُconcealing الوَجىfoot-pain لاnot تَشتَكيshe complains of أَلَمَthe pain of السُرىnight travel
سَواءٌalike عَلَيهاto her مَوتُهاher death وَاِعتِلالُهاand her illness
She hides her foot-pain and does not complain of the pain of night travel;
Her death and her illness are alike to her.
إِذاwhen شَرِبَتshe drank أَبصَرَتshe saw ماwhat جَوفُthe hollow of بَطنِهاher belly
وَإِنand if ظَمِئَتshe grew thirsty لَمdid not يَبدُappear مِنهاfrom her هُزالُهاher emaciation
When she drinks, she sees what is in the hollow of her belly.
And if she thirsts, her emaciation does not show.
وَإِنand if حَمَلَتshe carried حِملاًa load تَكَلَّفتُI undertook حِملَهاher load

And if she carries a load, I take her burden upon myself;
And if it is taken off her, I do not ask how she fares.

We sent her forth, eyes rising in her wake,
Toward you, with no fear of her weariness.
