  1. وبالكرخ هوى أبقى

    على الدهر من الدهر

    And in al-Karkh is a love more enduring

    through the ages than time itself.

  2. هوى والحمد للّه

    كفاني كلفة العذر

    A love—praise be to God—

    that has spared me the burden of making excuses.
