ولولا نزارٌ لضاق الفضاء
ولمand not يبقremain حرزa refuge ولاnor معقلa stronghold
ولم يبق حرز ولا معقل
Were it not for Nizār, the vast expanse would grow too narrow;
Were it not for Nizār, the open expanse would have narrowed,
and no refuge or stronghold would remain;
and neither refuge nor stronghold would have remained,
واخرجتand would have cast out الأرضthe earth اثقالهاits burdens
واخرجت الأرض اثقالها

وادخل في امه دعبل
and the earth would cast forth its burdens;
and the earth would have cast out its burdens,
and Diʿbil would be thrust back into his mother’s womb.
and Diʿbil would have been thrust into his mother.
