وإِذاand when تَطَلَّعَhe peers فيinto مَرائيmirrors فِكْرِهِhis thought
وإِذا تَطَلَّعَ في مَرائي فِكْرِهِ
لَمْdid not تَخْفَremain hidden خافيةٌa hidden thing عَلىfrom تَنْقيبِهِhis probing
لَمْ تَخْفَ خافيةٌ عَلى تَنْقيبِهِ
And when he peers into the vistas of his thought,
And when he peers into the mirrors of his thought,
No hidden thing escapes his probing.

فَتَراهُso you see him يَبْلُغُhe attains ماwhat أَرادَhe desired بِرِفْقِهِthrough his gentleness
فَتَراهُ يَبْلُغُ ما أَرادَ بِرِفْقِهِ
كَالفَجْرِlike dawn يَبْلُغُit attains ماwhat ابْتَغىit sought بِدَبيبِهِthrough its creeping advance
كَالفَجْرِ يَبْلُغُ ما ابْتَغى بِدَبيبِهِ
You see him attain his desire through gentle persistence,
So you see him attain what he desires through his gentleness,
Like dawn attaining what it seeks by its creeping advance.
