يا سُلَيمانُ غَنِّني

يا سُلَيمانُ غَنِّني

وَمِنَ الراحِ فَاِسقِني

وَمِنَ الراحِ فَاِسقِني

O Suleiman, sing to me,

O Sulaiman, sing to me

O Sulayman, sing to me,

and give me wine to drink.

And pour me some wine

ما تَرى الصُبحَ قَد بَدا

ما تَرى الصُبحَ قَد بَدا

في إِزارٍ مُتَبَّنِ

في إِزارٍ مُتَبَّنِ

Do you not see that dawn has already appeared

For dawn has appeared

Do you not see the morning has appeared,

in a straw-yellow wrap?

In a striped cloak

In a mantle of straw-pale hue?

فَإِذا دارَتِ الزُجا

فَإِذا دارَتِ الزُجا

جَةُ خُذها وَأَعطِني

جَةُ خُذها وَأَعطِني

Then, when the bottle comes round,

So if the pitcher comes around

So when the glass goes round,

take it and give it to me.

Take it and give it to me

Take it and pass it to me.

عاطِني كَأسَ سَلوَةٍ

عاطِني كَأسَ سَلوَةٍ

عَن أَذانِ المُؤَذِّنِ

عَن أَذانِ المُؤَذِّنِ

Pass me a cup to distract me

Give me a cup of solace

Hand me the cup of solace,

from the muezzin's call to prayer.

From the call of the muezzin

To banish the muezzin's call.

اِسقِني الخَمرَ جَهرَةً

اِسقِني الخَمرَ جَهرَةً

وَأَلِطني وَأَزنِني

وَأَلِطني وَأَزنِني

Give me wine openly,

Pour me wine openly

Give me wine to drink in open sight,

and make me commit sodomy and fornication.

Clothe me, weigh me down

And brand me with sodomy and sin.
