بُ أَظفارُ الهَوى فيهِ

بُ أَظفارُ الهَوى فيهِ

O one in whom once did not sink

O you, into whom had not yet sunk

the claws of passion,

The tearing talons of desire,

فَأَضحى سائِقُ الحُبِّ

فَأَضحى سائِقُ الحُبِّ

عَلى رِجلَيهِ يُسعيهِ

عَلى رِجلَيهِ يُسعيهِ

then love's driver began

Now the driver of Love has come

to make him run on his own two feet.

To force you running on your feet.

كَذا فِعلُ الَّذي اِشتَدَّ

كَذا فِعلُ الَّذي اِشتَدَّ

مِنَ الشَرِّ تَوَقّيهِ

مِنَ الشَرِّ تَوَقّيهِ

Such is the conduct of one whose

Such is the lot of one who strove

wariness of evil grew intense.

To guard himself against the harm.
